Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides

PLF provided a comprehensive previs team for Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, directed by Rob Marshall. VFX Supervisor Charles Gibson worked closely with PLF's team over the course of 6 months to work out 4 of the most complex sequences of the film.

PLF kept pace with the rapid production changes, quickly and accurately conforming both environments and shots to match the specifications of evolving sets. PLF also worked with filmmakers to determine the animation for the various props of the Queen Anne's Revenge that come alive when willed by her captain. In total, PLF delivered nearly 700 previs shots.

This project gave PLF a chance to demonstrate a high calibre of previs - one that elevated the look and feel to more of what might be expected on a pitchvis project. PLF successfully made all the main characters resemble the actors, and lighting and texturing were emphasized to create certain moods.
